skaara said that anubis destroyed the pyramid, and he recreated everything so sg1 could come back and say goodbye. skaara told them the stargate would remain until they left.

i agree with all of you but i think that anyting can happen in the stargate chronicals so i think if you rate this forum good enough ask for abidos enough we will eventually get what we wont because the mods want us to be happy so they can get more people to play.

if you want abidos the mods will make just speak up for what you want and rate this forum high enough so it will not be unseen and just let the mods know what the people want.

Whilst I agree with the logistical problem presented by the 'destruction' of Abydos in context of SGR, it would be nice to see it in game just due to the weight of it's symbolism in the genre.

Whilst I think it's implied that Abydos was destroyed, it'd take a **** of a lot of fire power to obliterate a planet. It sounds far more likely that Anubis' attack caused mass destruction across the surface of Abydos, annihilating the populations within a certain radius, perhaps even knocked it a bit off it's orbit. Sounds more plausible to me, at any rate...

So, there are several routes to go down.

1)
Take bringing back Abydos on the literal level, this would need some form of time-travel (if explanation were required). One team gates in, the other defends (reverse SGC?) or the other way around - SGC are fleeing back through the Gate with SL in pursuit (objectives: hold pyramid for certain length of time, dial out, await GDO confirmation, jump through).
Although there are few rooms in the pyramid itself, the pillared corridor could be longer with more pillars, the Gate room more like in the pilot than the movie, and several alternative routes there (one central corridor from the pillars, then one either side also so it doesn't turn into a choke point and can be used for tactical deployment).

2)
The battle takes place in the ruined pyramid. There is no Gate (or is half buried) so both teams have arrived by ship for some reason or another. However, it would just be Abydos in namesake, as it wouldn't quite have the same feel being a burnt out ruin.

3)
Nagada. The city just a stone's throw from the pyramid, now deserted, remains (assume the blast was akin to a nuclear fallout... the city wouldn't be too wrecked, but many would have died). In my mind, I can see it working similar to Favela in MW2. Lots of in and out of small buildings and rooms, various levels. Not a clean cut battle with obvious points of advantage (as with the middle in Amarna etc) but just some good solid guerilla combat!

4) the ascended aboydonians bring it back using their powers and retake human form as they liked there old life. - this would seem the most obvious way, much easier to explain than a time travel story line...

about the destruction of Abydos. The main weapon of Anubis hit the gate and the naquadah has the ability to amplify the blast a lot. A gate blowing theatrically has the ability to blow up a planet. The reason why they could gate there in the end was because Oma recreated the planet so SG1 could say goodbye (this is possible since the power of an ascended being is nearly limitless).

So did Anubis blow up the entire planet like they have been doing in SGU,

or just destroy 50km odd + surrounding the piramid/gate range on it ?

Well nothing to stop Skaara from poping in and saying Hi" to Jack, nothing interfering on a lower plane doing that
