what we need is a character editor,
with numerous options for each garment and physical attribute.

I'd say just color and gender are needed, any more than that and you risk turning it into something its not, and inevitably ruin the game. __________________

Would it be possible to get a
dark-blue hermaphrodite jaffa with white tattoos? Maybe even with a
green tail?

Allows for all sorts of community modification and of course could then hold competitions for the best one/top 3 which could then be added as dlc or w/e. Sooo much that can be done with community involvement... but it takes a bit of work on the developers side first. Especially if their official stance is to frown on client modification (which from what I remember reading, they currently do) cause I'm sure you can edit stuff as it is... just doesn't allow for people to share their work very easily. __________________

I like the idea of customizing your
avatar even in a shooter. It's that individual touch. The options maybe
limited, but it would be an interesting move.

sgr can pretty much become sgw over
time. imagine for example, one or more 50x50 servers for each map, with
the ability to use the stargates to travel to other maps. you'd
basically have an mmo with several instances. add the character editor,
vehicles, an economy and equipment purchases, missions, and who needs
sgw?
edit: also when you go through the stargate to a new map, the loading screen can be replaced with the full length wormhole video! __________________

Don't expect to see SGW anytime soon, if at all. So make the most of SGR! __________________

Do you guys remember Star Wars Battlefront 2? The gameply was similar to the Earth/SGC map with global domination gametype. The main difference with the sequel was that you could earn points for switchin to special classes (Sith for Empire and Jedi for the rebellion) These classes were not generic classes but actual named characters from the films. Yoda, Darth Vader, obi wan, etc just a thought. I know that SGR probably won't go that way..... but still worth a mention. __________________
