there are 2 problems with making a single-player campaign
1) map selection is poor they would have to greatly expand the maps, and then a coherent reason why a map like piramese is your mission and why the map is so small. only thing they could do is a battlefront style where its mostly a single-player online-style game. 2) AI a) real-time AI is ridiculously difficult to get right. that is why in most SP games the AI is absolutely horrible, or very resource intensive. most companies chose the horrible route. its cheaper. b) you can generally buy AI packages for your engine, but they will cost you money, and be horrible. c) you want to have a chance at having good and complex AI? try playing some single-player turn-based games.

If Unreal Tournament III can have a single player campaign, so can SGR.

its like when i bought doom 3. i loved previous dooms, and i figured it would be like that, but look a lot better. then i played doom 3 single player for a couple hours and never played it again. it felt like watching a movie that i had less than no interest in. doom is not about story, it's about killing. if there was a story in doom 2, i was too busy killing to notice it. in sgr, i always play jaffa, but in single player i would play sgc. all i've ever really wanted in a stargate game is to mow down jaffa, ori soldiers, or wraith, in familiar locations from the shows. i don't care if they act like idiots, firing wildly in my direction. but a difficulty adjustment that affects their hit ratio would be cool. |

this game could only go singleplayer, in my opinion, if they did something similir to the battlefield series. use the same maps but just add bot support. easier said then done, i know but thats what i think. personally i think it would be great to have singleplayer support but i dont think its gonna happen.

I personally get less than 20ms ping at all times on these servers. As for single player, I would enjoy it, but it would take a looong time for them to develop. They would obviously need to make brand new maps for it, then do voice acting, then pre-rendered scenes, and quite a bit of other stuff for it.

Have none of you played UT3? You know, the game that the engine for SGR came from? Their campaign is just a string of the multiplayer maps put together with bots and a weak *** story. It most definitely should be made secondary to improving the game as it is, but it isn't nearly as difficult as you all are making it out to be.
