Post Special Suggestion - Don S. Davis

hrmm.. Dont know if its a easter egg hidden somewhere or not but
Can we get something nice in the game in memorial of Don Davis?

I just happened to think about him a few minutes ago Long story short my father and I loved stargate and he is passed away as well

kind of reminded me of Don Davis being gone too

Soo I suggest a Nice Don Davis Memorial added to the SGC Map

something in his office to remember him by

I mean we have a hidden box copy of SGW in the office LOL why not put something for him there too

just an idea if its been posted before or is already in game somewhere please forgive me and let me know where it is

Rest in peace Don - We loved General Hammond

here here, excellent idea. i have pretty much the same story. my dad and i watched stargate together since the very beginning. at gatecon 2001, my wife and i took a picture with don davis, which i framed and wrote happy birthday in goa'uld on the frame, and gave it to my dad for his birthday. my dad and don were very similar in appearance. my dad died a few years ago, and when i went to pack up his house, i found that picture on the center of his desk. when don died, it had a big impact on how i felt about my dad being gone. i would love to see general hammond's name on the desk, or maybe a picture of him and his grandkids on the desk.

Agreed..

Similiar situation with me and my dad - we watched stargate the movie, then children of the gods, then entire SG Series as much as possible

Friday was Pizza and stargate night lol

I like the idea of a Hammond name plate and pic of his grand kids on the desk

I thought of something else too

hang some pictures in the office from some of Dons actual artwork
he was a good artist -- of course this involves having permission from his wife Ruby

in this case its for Don Davis / Hammond it doesnt have to stick to show cannon

we can put a hammond name plate on the desk and maybe have it say something when u use action on it like
In Memory of Don S. Davis

I know back a few months when I released a Map for another game I play - I added a memorial for my own father

when u use action on the item it displays the text on screen in memorial of him etc...
not at all hard to do in UE3

I completely agree and support this. I'd say break cannon, and make a memorial to him in his old office. A picture of him on the wall, some of his artwork, i wouldn't mind if we turned the whole room into a shrine to him. He was amazing, and we should have something in his memory.

The game is set into place years after SGI last episode, so thats why Carters name is there, a Pic of some sort is more reasonable.

no no...

i know why your wanting to keep cannon -- we are saying in this case break the cannon / story line and place hammonds plate on the desk and some pictures etc..

if you put the ability to read a caption or something using the Action key people will understand ohh. its here as a memorial not part of the SGR Storyline

I understand wanting to keep Cannon because it goes along with the game play - I just suggested this to do something nice for Don Davis

I second (third/fourth/whatever) this idea. Hammond was one of my favorite characters. I was saddened by his passing. And I too watched SG with my father. He's the one who introduced me to the program.

Sangrel & Blevok, cheers!

I would love to see a big statue of him with Hammond of Texas written on the plaque. Im sure bra'tak could organise that, he was fond of Hammond.

im in guernsey atm and when people died here there family normally pay the government to put a bench with an "in memory of x" name plack on it in a public place.

yes, thats what we should do... all chip in and get him a nice bench in the SGC!

That was my suggetion as well.

Could, on a wall, have, a large poster of- USAF George Hammond,(ship and/or the general) when you click on it, you get in memory of Don. S. David, and a few coments, or other as sagested above.

indeed! Something to remember Don as Hammond would be great! How are we supposed to defend the SGC without him?!

Hey guys I think that theres only one realistic way for developers now and its to add his picture in his office (now Carters)...it can be made easy (I hope). And its better than a picture of Hammond/ship/. Theres one great thing that it neednt to be realistic picture...cause developers of SGW already created his character (seen on one of screenshots). So it can be easy made in SGR graphic style. I loved Don Davis and when I first heart that the ship is called Hammond I was happy, because he was very important character of SG1 for me.

I agree that a plaque and a picture in the SGC map would be a good memorial. I don't think you would really want a big canon breaking gesture though, it's something that would be there forever so you want it to have a nice sentiment without being too obtrusive. Something that you'll see and think about without it becoming an every day part of the map so that when you notice it again a month later it is still a nice memorial.
