I was up until 3:00 am last night on this map, had a blast with it and the new game type. The Goauld's new ribbon device will take some getting used to, my knee-jerk reaction when having my brain fried is to jump away. I guess I'd better get good at begging for my life!

I like the new map, but so far havent
really had much of a chance to explore it. Even if you dont die you only
get 3 minutes and get scooped up back to the start.
One thing I do know, it destroyed my soldiers KD ratio, because all I did on soldier last night was die over and over and over. Cant get away from those Goaulds anymore and cant see em when they are frying you and cant grenade them from range because too much cover. So I dont think I will go in there on soldier again. I did better on that map, when I played scientist and Jaffa, but in scientist your basically just waiting to die and hope you take one or two with you. No time for running around healing people either, takes 3 minutes just to find the guy calling for medic and then your scooped up back to the start. On Jaffa that map is fun, running around killing until you die or hit 3 minutes. I havent played any of the other classes on that map yet. I will test them later on and see how I get on. I feel that, that 3 minutes thing for me would get very old, very very quickly. Its a huge map, feels like the biggest map of the four and yet your there for 3 minutes and get scooped. Not complaining about the map, just please give us cautious players time to pick our fights on ground of our own choosing. So far it is the only thing that saves my KD ratio. I scout a enemy position and pick my target. Make my attack, blow my cover, displace before the enemy rally and counter attack. Come back at the enemy from a different direction and another try. All this takes time, takes more than 3 minutes. Ok I suppose this Arena thing doesnt suit my play style, but I suggest that all off the games are too short. I would like to see at least 5 minutes and also raising the existing maps win score to more than 160, especially now that there are assist points. Sorry am rambling again I'll shut up and go test commando and ashrak on the new map.

the new map is cool, and fun, but not
nearly as fun as i was expecting. from the previews, i expected a sort
of open air palace courtyard-ish colisseum-ish arena, but it's more like
a labyrinth with narrow passages, dangerous ledges, and plenty of
places to get stuck. look up for a second to watch the al'kesh go by,
and get stuck. try to run while firing at snipers from the center, and
get stuck. the stargate is pointless and the rings are a death trap.
the tau'ri should be spawning in the sgc and gateing to the court, and
the snake folk should be spawning on a ha'tak and using rings to get
there. but given that it is the way it is, i think the ring operation
should be changed. there should be a way to activate them, instead of
being activated by just walking through them. i've seen many people
frustrated by the constant activations, getting lifted up into the air
as they try to avoid fire. i got my "fish in a barrel" in like my first
deathmatch because of the chaos from the rings activating constantly.
and once you're in the upper ring platforms, there is no escape except
for jumping a wall. what possible reason could there be for a ring area
with no exit? and the perimeter halls should not be all connected.
there is no reason to even go near the stargate, or really in the center
at all. i find myself running in circles around the perimeter until i
find someone to kill, and maybe chase into the center, then get sniped.
oh yeah, and the place is sniper heaven. and is it just me or do the
rings seem much bigger than they should be? not trying to be a
complainer here, but it just seems like they spent way too much time and
effort on a map that isn't very true to stargate. i'm just praying to
the gods that the next map is an actual stargate location. and yes,
i'll wait for it and i'll pay for it, and please, for the love of
goa'uld, make it accurate, use the technology logically, and don't
over-complicate it.
one more thing. i haven't played enough to fully understand it, but what's with the timer? i thought it was supposed to go on until only one man was left.

Blevok, I suppose that's a fair point
about the rings not going anywhere useful + constant activations. As
far as the timer goes, I find it liberating, your natural instinct when
outnumbered is to try to hunker down and survive but that doesn't help
you win the match so might as well go for it!

As lantean has said, this is the first map with 2 game types. One is Arena and one is Team Deathmatch.
If you want to explore, use TDM I havent had a chance to play yet, downloading the patch now.... Looking forward to it though!

i still like the knife idea but now with this map it has many sniper nests so the knife is not as necessary but still think it would be cool. But The new map Rocks i like it!!

Yea they should make the rings either have a control panel that you had to hit before you run on and make them where you could go either across to other side or to the sniper nest depending on which button you hit or make it random sends you to one of the other 3 platforms not knowing which one you will end up on.

First thoughts
Haven't read any of the other posts here yet, this is purely a first thoughts post:
Like it. Looks great, a lot less lag despite my ping being the same. I was a bit iffy on the Arena play style the first time as I joined part way through a game and had to wait 134 seconds to spawn, then got creamed getting my bearings. Played it on Deathmatch, loved it. Went back to Arena and after half a dozen plays I am really liking it. Get good team work going and it's great. Not so keen on the new Audible system but I'm sure I'll get used to it. V quick post as I'm about to get bumped off this machine.
